Sunglasses: Big is in!

27.08.2010 | Top Eyewear Trends

Eye glass trends change as rampantly as the world of fashion! There is absolutely no exception. Gone are the days when a person would have it as a mere accessory, gone are the times when one possesses a single pair of sunglasses for years together. Sunglass trends are changing with ever summer and each season each design which is created spell hot, stylish and funky! Designers keep looking back into history to see what they can pick up from there and reinvent into something new, cool and modern!

So whereas last season boasted about rimless glasses, this year’s only about iconic strikingly big frames and huge aviators. Style icons like Audrey Hepburn and Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis were associated with chic big glasses backs in the days, but today it’s back with a bang again. Today the young girls like Paris Hilton, Ashley Olsen, Jessica Simpson, and Nicole Ritchie among several others are sporting super sized snazzy designer sunglasses.

While back in the 1980’s aviators styles were distinctly seen in Cobra and Top Gun, having a masculine flavor the recent years have seen it as a unisex style.  Interestingly gone are the days when aviators meant the basic black lens and metal combination. Now even if the lens is black or brown, the frames which complement are of bright colors like red or blue. Wrap around frames is another style which is prominent and can work as a unisex style as well.

Moreover colors like hot pink, red, purple, whites are all back to complement the cool and bog look.  In fact even funky shapes like cat eye or butterfly shapes are in. Moreover who wants it plain anyways? So there are embellishment and intricate diamonds in the metal frames.  For those who want it a bit sober, oversize frames with timeless colors like white, brown and black  give the understated look which would work well with any occasion.

For the guys, one should go for the unanimous choice of the police styled glares. Athletic, drop dead gorgeous and totally hot is the look which can be achieved by bold colors which are used to outline the frames.

While the gals go for the “big look” the guys go for the athletic and hunky one! Go ahead and discover your own movie star allure, hide from the glaring sun, don’t bother about fixing that eye make up since you can spice up the look with a spicy, bold pair of sunglasses from top designers.

Large sunglasses have many different purposes. Many of them are listed in the above article, but the simplest concept is that the larger the sunglasses, the more of your face will be hidden and that will lessen the possibility of someone recognizing you. Hence, the reason celebs are always seen wearing large sunglasses.
